The Tarka Federation

The Tarka Federation is made of Dolton Church of England VA Primary School and The Clinton VA Church of England Primary School. The schools federated in 2010 and are currently working in a management partnership with St Helen’s Church of England VA Primary School governed by an Interim Executive Board and supported by a Management Partnership Committee of governors from St Helen’s.

Vision Statement for the Tarka Federation

To ensure that all pupils are given the opportunity to learn in a challenging, creative and Christian environment.

Through this, individuals will be empowered to make a positive contribution and enabled to achieve their full potential.

Mission & Ethos Statement

We believe that education should be a journey that fosters a love of learning, where every child is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. We aim to create a respectful and caring environment based on Christian values as exemplified in the ‘Every Child Matters to God’ agenda, through which we encourage children to grow spiritually and become independent learners.

We endeavour to provide rich and diverse experiences that enable all children to develop a deep social, moral, spiritual and cultural awareness. We aspire for our children to become individuals who are well equipped to become responsible citizens of the future.

School Aims

  • To provide a caring, safe environment for all of our children and staff
  • To offer a high standard of education for every child
  • To offer a broad, balanced curriculum
  • To promote the development of the whole child
  • To promote Christian values and an awareness and understanding of other religions
  • To encourage parents/carers to engage positively with their child’s education
  • To provide a quality learning environment that promotes high standards
  • To promote positive links with the school’s community

Safeguarding @ The Tarka Federation

We believe that School should provide a caring, positive, safe and stimulating learning environment that promotes the fair and just principles of British values to support the social, emotional, physical and moral development of each child.

Clinton Primary

At the Clinton C of E Primary School, all pupils are supported by the teachers as individuals to strive for excellence in a caring, family and community-centred rural environment. Our connected and creative curriculum offers an opportunity for children to explore their own talents as well as learn new skills. Every day, our dedicated team works hard to encourage and support every child as they progress along their learning journey at this school.

The land our school is built on was generously donated by Lord and Lady Clinton whom often attend the school events and Easter/Summer fares.

This is a Church of England Primary School in the Diocese of Exeter. Recognising the historic foundation the school will preserve and develop the religious character in accordance with the principles and practice of the Church of England and in partnership with the Churches in the Parish and Diocese.

Dolton C of E Primary School is set within the picturesque village of Dolton in North Devon. Dolton is a medium sized village located between the villages of Beaford, Winkleigh, and Merton and just a short drive from Hatherleigh, Torrington and Okehampton.

At our school, we believe that parents and carers have a vital role in the education of their children. We do our best to work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that their children get the best education possible which is tailored to their child’s individual needs.
